Thumbs Up Thread
«
on:
November 29, 2008, 05:55:27 PM »
Lynn, I liked your idea of a Thumbs Up to Target...so I hope you don't mind but I changed the topic to Thumbs Up Thread:
So DS'ers, this is the opposite of the Rants thread....who do ya wanna give a Thumbs Up to?
Can be an individual person, a company, store, newspaper, etc, etc....
Lynn's original post follows:
(Yath)
I tried to find a thread this should fit into, but I couldn't, so DB if you see something more fitting go ahead and put it in there.
We have a rant thread, but this is actually a compliment to Target, not a rant.
A few weeks ago, I was just surfing a bit and saw a thread at a board I use to visit about a really expensive car seat being marked only $50 Target's site. The regular price of the car seat was $300 so of course I ordered one. I also called a friend who is pregnant and told her to order one. I wasn't sure if it was a mistake, or if they were really marked down (I had never seen them marked down at all, let alone that cheap) Anyway, turns out a bunch of people on that site went bonkers and started ordering 10 at a time, so they could resell them for a profit.
Long story short, Target could have never met the demand. Target's policy on their site was pretty clear that mistakes do happen in pricing and that if a mistake was found they would notify you and make alternate arrangements, basically saying that they don't have to meet the advertised price. Whatever, no harm no foul!
A few days later, I got an email saying the price was an error on their site and of course they apologized. So what no loss, it sounded too good to be true anyway. Well.... two days ago, I get an email from Target again saying that although they know that they have no legal obligation to have met the price, they were giving me a $25 gift card for my trouble.
I thought it was cool since they have no obligation whatsoever to do that.

good idea on the thread.
and nice Thumbs up to Target Lynn.
right now i dont have nuttin to "thumbs up" ....
except to say, if you order from fish.com/dog.com/ferret.com and then at the last minute dont finish the order, they will send you an email telling you if you go back and finish the order they will give you a certain % off... and hey, they already have low prices and shipping is always 6.99 for no matter how large the order.
so for all of you that have animals, you might wanna check out their prices, because they are way cheaper than what you would pay in the stores.

Don't know if this is the right thread to put this in. It was either here or "In the news", but since we're talking about Caylee there, I didn't want to change the subject. I just thought this was great. The headline & what the guy did, anyway. Good for that guy!!
Stupid law had to ruin it, though.

Apparently it's available at most sporting goods stores. Prolly to keep elk/deer/whatever is being hunted from smelling the hunter.

Good for that lil boy
The only thing I hate is poor Pit Bulls. I am wary of them but I know there are many many really good ones out there that are loving & would not hurt a fly. Yet, because of all these people who train them to fight all we ever hear about is how viscous they are to the point where some cities forbid owning them

I know what you mean DB, people need to realise its how you raise and train a dog, not just what they are. I mean Ryan has a dobermn and his sister has a rottweiler and they are both big sucks, he rotty can be a little bit of a bugger, but all in all that are great dogs!

My hubby who is trained in jiujitsu says that the boy could have easily killed the dog with that hold, so he's even more impressive than we think. That clip made me
that boy is so sweet.
I'm sorry, I hate that people have pit bulls and have not educated themselves on how to take care of them. Even if they are not training them to fight/kill, they absolutely need to educate themselves on what it takes to own a pitbull safely. They require very special attention and training techniques in order to keep them from being vicious. I've read and read about this topic and the statistics DO NOT LIE, pit bull attacks/deaths are almost triple that of any other species. It's just like "most" poorly behaved/mean children, it's not the fault of the children, but the fault of the parents who raised them; same goes for pet owners.
